Why are caesarean section scars so obvious? How to get rid of caesarean section scars?

Time:2020-02-21Popular: Author: Editor

We all know that many pregnant mothers choose caesarean section when giving birth, which is a relatively common method of delivery. After a caesarean section, there will be wounds on the body, and it will take a period of time to recover. Many mothers will find that their scars will be more obvious, so why are the scars from caesarean section so obvious? Let’s take a closer look below!

Caesarean section scars are obvious

Different constitutions

It is normal to have scars after caesarean section. Some women have a scarring constitution, so the incision heals slower, and scars are prone to proliferate and become larger. The scar area becomes red, itchy, and hard in texture. Scar tissue doesn't shrink well, making it very noticeable.

However, some mothers recover quickly from the incision after cesarean section, shrink better, and the scars fade quickly. This is due to differences in personal physiques. It’s not a matter of improper care.

Surgical process

Generally, vertical incisions are larger than horizontal incisions, and the scars will be more obvious, and the doctor's technique is also very important. If the technique is not up to standard, it will easily leave obvious scars.

Improper care

After a caesarean section, the incision needs a period of time to recover. During this period, you must take good care of the wound to prevent infection, otherwise it will easily leave obvious scars.

How to remove caesarean section scars

In fact, for some relatively small and less obvious caesarean section scars, you can go to the hospital for drug injection treatment and laser and other treatments. However, it should be noted that if you use drug treatment, you need to avoid breastfeeding; and those who plan to have a second child cannot use drug treatment. After drug treatment for half a year, you can have a second child.

For some serious abdominal scars, they can be improved through surgical treatment. The sunken scars can be smoothed through surgery to achieve visual beauty. Of course, non-surgical treatment is still required in the later stage of the operation, such as the use of scar patches and ointments in the later stage.

Of course, everyone’s specific situation is different, so mothers should go to the hospital to consult a doctor before making a choice, and then receive symptomatic treatment according to the situation to achieve better results.

How long does it take for a caesarean section incision to recover

Normally speaking, the incision after a caesarean section can heal within one week after delivery, and scar hyperplasia will appear 3 to 6 weeks after delivery. Then, after 6 weeks after delivery, the scar hyperplasia tissue begins to decline and shrink. After that, the color begins to gradually become lighter and close to the original skin, and the scar height is the same as the skin surface.

How to care for the incision of a caesarean section

1. Keep the wound dry and breathable. If you sweat or get wet in hot weather, dry it in time and pay attention to disinfection to avoid wound infection and inflammation.

2. When getting up and sitting up during confinement, you should move slowly. Try to support your body with your arms and then stand up slowly, avoiding straining on your abdomen. Pay attention to preventing colds and coughs after delivery, and eat more vegetables to avoid constipation. In particular, do not cause lacerations due to the above reasons.

3. Take a shower and wash your hair one week after caesarean section. Try to avoid bending down when taking a shower and washing your hair. Of course, do not bend down frequently when doing other housework.

4. Do not eat fish within 1 week after caesarean section. Although fish contains a large amount of protein and DHA, the EPA in fish will affect wound healing.

5. You can drink more milk 3 days after delivery, 350-500ml per day, and 3-5 eggs per day. These high-protein foods are conducive to the early recovery of wounds.

6. The postpartum diet should be as light as possible and avoid all spicy foods. For example, try to reduce some seasonings, and try not to eat them if you can.
